Troubleshooting: Hypershell+ App Can’t Connect to Your Hypershell XUpdated 11 days ago
If you're having trouble connecting your Hypershell X to the Hypershell+ App, this step-by-step guide will help you identify and resolve the issue quickly.
Common Issues You May Experience
Here are some of the most common app and connectivity problems customers encounter:
The Hypershell+ App can’t find the device
The Bluetooth connection fails or disconnects
The device doesn’t appear under “Add Device” in the app
The connection is successful, but then drops
The app connects to another phone, but not the main one
The device LED doesn’t light up when trying to pair
You see a red blinking light when trying to connect
If any of these sound familiar, follow the steps below to resolve them.
Step 1: Make Sure Your App is Updated
Before troubleshooting, ensure your Hypershell+ App is updated to the latest version.
Open the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android)
Search for Hypershell+
If an update is available, install it
Older app versions may prevent your phone from detecting or connecting to the device.
Step 2: Confirm Your Phone Settings
If you’re using an iPhone (iOS):
Bluetooth is turned on
Location access is set to "While Using the App" or "Always."
Bluetooth access is allowed for the Hypershell+ App
Your phone is within 2–3 meters of the device
Check these in: Settings > Hypershell+ App
If you’re using an Android phone:
Bluetooth is turned on
Location Services are enabled
Permissions are enabled for:
Nearby Devices
Location
Battery optimization is disabled for the Hypershell+ App
Your phone is within 2–3 meters of the device
Check these in:
Settings > Apps > Hypershell+ > Permissions
Settings > Battery > Battery Optimization > Don’t optimize
Step 3: Check the Device’s Bluetooth Light
Look at the LED indicator on the right leg lever of your Hypershell X.
LED Light | What It Means |
---|---|
Waving blue | The device is in Bluetooth pairing mode |
Solid blue | The device is already connected |
Blinking red | The battery is too low to connect |
No light | The device is off or not charging |
If there's no light, press and hold the control button for 2 seconds to turn it on.
If it’s blinking red, plug it into the charger and let it charge for at least 20 minutes before retrying.
Step 4: Start the Pairing Process
Once the device is powered on and ready:
Open the Hypershell+ App
Tap Device > Add Device
Stay close to the exoskeleton (within 2 meters)
Wait for the device to appear in the list
If pairing is successful, you're all set. If it fails or doesn’t show up, continue below.
Step 5: Clear Previous Bluetooth Connections
Old pairings may interfere with new ones. Please:
Open your phone’s Bluetooth settings
Tap Forget/Remove for any saved “Hypershell” devices
Restart both your phone and Hypershell X
Try pairing again in the Hypershell+ App
Step 6: Reset the Device (if needed)
Still not working? You can perform a factory reset:
Open the Hypershell+ App
Go to Settings > Device > Factory Reset
After resetting, power the device back on and try pairing again
Step 7: Try Another Phone (Cross-Test)
If you have another smartphone available:
Install the Hypershell+ App
Log in with your account
Enable Bluetooth and location permissions
Try pairing the same Hypershell X
If the connection works on a second phone:
Your original phone may have software conflicts or blocked permissions. Consider resetting Bluetooth settings or using the working phone.
